My First Bead Swap

Remember the days before emails and Facebook? We look forward to the arrival of the postman, with mails from all over world. Anyone remember pen pals? How we wait for the postman to come. How our hands tremble with eagerness as we slowly peel open the envelope and then spend hours reading the mails over and over again?
*sigh* Things are never the same again with email and Facebook. You just don't have the same kind of excitement opening an email as compared to an envelope.
Not until I discovered Bead Swap!

Beads and findings that I received from Jenni :)

This is the first time I joined Bead Swap and suddenly I rediscovered the EXCITEMENT!! The palms of my hands were literary sweating with curiosity when I first open my letterbox and saw this huge package in it. I do not know why but I squeeze it, trying to feel what was inside. Of course, with the layers of bubble-wrap, I wasn't sure.
As I laid it down on my working table, memories flowed. When was the last time I received a letter from Australia? I ripped it open (kidding, I didn't) and was extremely happy to see a cute little box with so many different types of beads inside. A short note written on a card described the beads with some details. Some of the pretty lamp work beads were handmade by Jenni, my Bead Swap partner.

I was also impressed by our organiser, Lori, who execute the entire Bead Swap project flawlessly. As I wait for the next Bead Swap, my mind started to wonder again, this time, as to how I can use the beads for my next beading project.

8 professional-looking projects for you to bring home comprising:
3 Earrings, 2 necklaces, 1 ring, 1 bracelet and 1 handphone strap.

Total Duration : approx 6 hours
Can be completed in 1 day x 6 hours or 2 days x 3 hours.

During this beginner workshop, you will learn 8 essential basic jewellery making techniques which are very important for you to create professional-looking pieces with quality workmanship!
Foundation workshops like the one taught here is the stepping stone to more complicated techniques taught in the intermediate workshops.

Project 1 - Long Versatile Necklace
Come and learn the basics of jewellery design while getting hands-on experience at creating your own unique necklace! In this class you will make your own necklace, which you will be able to wear home after class. This Versatile Necklace can be worn in different styles to suit your different choices of clothes. Project 3 - Pearl Ring

Project 4 - Flower Earring
Flowers are a girl's best friend, too. This project is a bonus as it combines two techniques in one to create a lively piece that will stand out from the crowd. The focal point of the earring, which is the flower, blends in well with its leaves and fellow beads to ensure a professional finish.

Project 5 - Wire Flower Earring

Learning and perfecting the techniques of making perfect round and even loops requires patience and practice. Trainer’s Profile (Ms Vivian Yew)

Vivian Yew has turned her passion for beading jewellery into a business opportunity.
She set up ViVE Creation in 2004 to conduct workshops. In year 2009, she expanded her business by starting ViVE Beads to sell beading and polymer clay supplies online.

To sharpen her skills, Vivian attends courses and regularly studies overseas’ market for latest trends and designs. Vivian has many years of teaching experience. She is a certified Swarovski Instructor as well as a certified People’s Association Trainer.

Since her humble beginnings, she has taught over a thousand students to date. She conducts lessons at home as well as at clients’ venue.

There are really pretty right...... I also make a matching pendant design with my favourite flower cabochons. Love it so much !!

How much is the workshop ?

We have different types of workshops, with different prices and durations, so please refer to the individual workshops for the details.

Are materials included ?

Materials are included only for Bead Jewellery Making Workshop (Beginner)

When stduents complete the Beginner workshop, they are at a level of competence where they love to select their own materials. That is why materials are not included for Intermediate levels.
Please refer to the above workshops link for more details.

Where is the workshop conducted?

Private workshops are held at Clementi Ave 6.
For company / corporate workshops held at your premises, please contact us.

When can I start my lesson and what are the timings for the workshop?

Our workshops are on-going. Timings are flexible and you may start at any time.
Please call us for an appointment at least one week in advance to avoid disappointment.

How long is the workshop ?

Please refer to the individual workshops for the durations, as different workshops have different durations.

How many people in a workshop ?

You don't have to worry if you are alone to sign up our workshops, as I will help you to arrange the schedule to fit you.
I will arranged at least 2 students to start the class and maximum 4-5 students.

Mr Lee is a happy-go-lucky man and he always share with us ( me and Alvin) a lot of fun stories during his workshop with me :) He also does a lot of charity work to help the elderly @ 快乐学堂 - YAH Community College.

Today, 23-Dec-2008, is our last day of workshop @ Chinatown Point...
We have 2 classes today, morning 11am and afternoon 2pm, my 'last' students are Angeline, Shirley, Joan, LeeLee, Celese :)
After the workshop ended at about 6pm, we started to do the packing, as we are going to shift everything back on 29-Dec.
Workshop will be starting again after CNY, in Feb 2009.
We will be busy packing, preparing and setting up new workshop @ Clementi Ave 6.
So, meanwhile, we will not have any workshop and online order.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
But, we will definitely prepare ourselves and provide better service.

Polymer Clay workshop for adult and children :

"This course is designed for total beginners and provides an introduction to Polymer Clay - students will be taught the basic techniques needed for working with polymer clay - conditioning, baking, use of tools and uses of different clays, plus finishing beads and making into simple jewellery pieces. Students will also learn how to make simple millefiori canes,Using slices from these beads participants will learn how to make simple beads which will be baked and made into a pendant, earring and charm bracelet.
